Community Involvement

Get involved — and get rewarded

We love the communities we serve, because we’re a part of them too. We want our employees to be good stewards of the community and to give freely of their time and talents to improve the world around them. That’s why we offer plentiful opportunities to get involved — and reward you for your efforts.

UBT’s Community Involvement (CI) program, overseen by a peer-led CI Committee, provides associates with coordinated opportunities to give of their time, talent, and treasures throughout the year. We encourage you to participate in this program with support from your supervisor or manager.

Community Involvement program outline

  • Community involvement activities: Each year, the CI Committee coordinates three volunteer opportunities, two drives collecting items such as clothing or food, blood donations, and a fundraiser supporting United Way and Combined Health Agencies Drive (CHAD). The CI Committee can also activate our catastrophic event clause to implement another activity to support the community in the event of a local or national disaster.
  • Community involvement days: As an added bonus, your participation in the CI program's activities can earn you up to two additional days off per year! These CI days are used the same way as other flexible time off days.
  • Board education: Each year, the CI program provides education to help associates better understand what is expected when serving on a nonprofit Board of Directors and how to choose the right board to serve on.
  • Board matching: The CI program hosts a yearly event showcasing multiple local nonprofits with board seats available, so if you’ve ever considered joining a board, you won’t want to miss out.

Outside the CI program, we encourage you to contribute time and effort to community needs where you have an interest in volunteering and a skill or aptitude that is useful to the organization. Associates at the officer level or higher are expected to serve on a Board of Directors or volunteer for a local nonprofit of their choice.

We encourage you to support efforts of your choice outside of business hours; however, you may request the use of business time for these efforts, to be approved at your supervisor or manager’s discretion.
