RoundUp Savings Program

RoundUp – only from Union Bank.

Every bank has a savings account — we’ll actually help you use it. When you use your Union Bank VISA check card, we’ll round up the total to the nearest dollar and automatically deposit the difference into your savings account.

Some Change Will Do You Good
It is now easy to save. Every time you use your Union Bank VISA check card to fill up the car, buy groceries or go out to eat means more savings to you. Over time this change will really add up.

RoundUp Example

Family Flexibility
You can choose to have the RoundUp amount deposited into your savings account, or into children’s or even grandchildren’s accounts. In fact, you can select up to five different accounts that will equally share the RoundUp amount. We do ask that your designated account(s) have common ownership (your name also on the account).

How to Get Started
To sign up for the RoundUp program you must have a Union Bank checking account, check card and a designated account for the savings (this can be any Union Bank savings, money market or checking account). Stop by any Union Bank branch to open your accounts and get started.

If you already have a Union Bank checking account, check card and an account for the savings, you can sign up at any Union Bank branch, or contact our Call Center at 800-297-2837 or (402) 323-1777.

Download the RoundUp Application here.
Simply print, fill out, and return it to any Union Bank location. Or mail to:

Additional Information

  • We total the RoundUp purchases that post to your checking account each business day and make a single transfer to your designated “savings account” at the end of the business day.

  • If you do not have a minimum of $5.00 in your checking account we do not round up purchases posted on that business day and cancel the RoundUp transfer for that day.

  • If your check card purchase is subsequently cancelled or reversed, the corresponding RoundUp transfer will remain in your “savings account”.

  • Current and new customers must enroll in the RoundUp program to participate. A RoundUp authorization form is available at any Union Bank branch.

Sample Statements
Each debit card transaction is listed showing the amount of your purchase. Each day’s total RoundUp amount is shown in one total entry. In the example shown below, the total RoundUp amount for the three charges on Feb. 5th totals $1.82. The $1.82 is automatically transferred to your designated savings account at the end of the business day.

Important Information About Procedures For Opening A New Account—
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you; we may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.

FDIC Insurance:
The standard insurance amount of $250,000 per depositor is in effect through December 31, 2013. On January 1, 2014, the standard insurance amount will return to $100,000 per depositor for all account categories except IRAs and other certain retirement accounts, which will remain at $250,000 per depositor. Union Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through June 30, 2010, all non-interest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
