Security Enhancements for UBT

UBT News

It’s a pretty big year for UBT. While we are celebrating 100 years, we are also making big plans for how to continue to serve you in the future. We are excited to show you what we have been working on later this year.

With these enhancements, we are reviewing security to ensure that your digital experiences are user-friendly and safe. The makers of operating systems and browsers, like the IOS operating system on iPhones or Internet Explorer, over time stop supporting the older versions of their products. When support stops, the company no longer adds security updates and these legacy systems can be exploited by fraudsters. For our customers’ security, we also limit access to our banking systems from outdated browsers and operating systems. Here are some recent operating systems, browsers, and mobile apps we have discontinued:

Internet Explorer 7 and 8

We discontinued support for IE7 and IE8 as of April 29th.

What does that mean for you?
You will not be able to access UBT online services using old versions of Internet Explorer. Please download a new version of Internet Explorer from microsoft.com.

Amazon App Store

We are discontinuing the Amazon version of the UBTgo App. We have determined that Amazon's App Store does not meet our standards for releasing timely security updates.

What does that mean for you?

If you currently have the UBTgo App downloaded from the Amazon App Store, you will still be able to use it. However, no future updates will be available to download and no new users will be able to download the app. Later this year we will be releasing a critical update with exciting enhancements like fingerprint ID. After that update, you will no longer be able to use the Amazon App Store App.

UBTgo is still available to you through your mobile browser. Simply visit ubt.com on your device and log in with your same Access ID and Password to view your accounts. If your device is compatible with the Android App store, you have the option to download the Android version of the UBTgo App.

IOS

We are discontinuing support for IOS8 on our UBTgo Mobile App at the end of September.

What does that mean for you?

You will still be able to use the app, but no future updates will be available to download. Later in 2017, we will be releasing a critical update with exciting new features like fingerprint login. At that time, the IOS8 version of the app will no longer work. You will still be able to access UBTgo through a mobile browser by visiting ubt.com on your mobile device and logging in with your same Access ID and Password.

What can you do now?
If your mobile device is still running the IOS8 Operating System, we encourage you to update to IOS9 or higher. Once you've updated to the newer operating system, you will receive future updates and should not notice any interruption in your UBTgo App availability due to this issue.
