Have you ever met someone who lights up a room? Louisha “Lou” Williams is one such person. Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer in Spring 2019, Lou has made it a top priority to support her kids as much as she could, attending 13-year-old son Corlen’s sporting events and playing with daughters Giana, 10, and Whitney, 8.

Lou’s positive attitude is why her nominator, Samatha Ferguson, wanted to make sure the Williams family was given plenty of love this holiday season.

Staying positive together

During the roughest times, Lou and her kids try to make the most out of all that they are given and appreciate their time with family above all else. Even when Lou was going through chemo, she always tried her hardest to make sure she was showing up for her kids — and they’ve done the same for her. When Lou started to lose her hair, one of her daughters cut off a large amount of her own hair to show her support for her mom.

The family has already experienced some magic in the form of a very important phone call from Lou’s doctor at the end of November, announcing that she’s cancer-free! And UBT is thankful for the opportunity to give the family some more holiday magic in honor of their powerful bond and the love they show each other and everyone they meet.

The gift of memories

What the Williams family loves most is family gatherings, especially coming together during the holidays. So, UBT wanted to give them more opportunities to spend quality time together with annual passes to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo and Lincoln Children’s Museum, as well as passes to the Lincoln Escape Room and the YMCA. The family also received gift cards from Super C and U-Stop for gas and Walmart for groceries, as well as new winter coats from Scheels, shoes, hats, and assorted clothing.

We’re wishing the Williams family the very best, and for continued health for Lou so she can spend more time with her beautiful kids. Happy holidays, Williams family!
