Do you ever feel like the whole world is running the exact same errands you are? You get all set to have a productive day, head to the grocery store, bank, or pharmacy, and end up facing long lines or crowded aisles. Plus, pandemic concerns are still very real, and maybe you don’t feel comfortable going out just yet.

While we can’t help free up grocery aisles or make the pharmacy line move faster (there are delivery services for that!), we do have a great alternative to driving to the bank when you need to make a deposit: the safe, convenient mobile deposit feature within the UBTgo mobile app. It may not ask about your day or offer your dog a treat, but there are lots of reasons our mobile app is so highly rated — and the ease and security of depositing a check from anywhere is a big one. So, let’s dig into the basics.

Downloading the app. Getting started is as easy as locating the UBTgo mobile banking app for iPhone® or Android™ in your smart device’s app store. Follow the on-screen prompts to download, install, and log in, and you’re on your way to easy banking. If you’re new to UBTgo, simply tap Register to get started. You’ll have access to all the same information and services as using UBTgo via your web browser, plus you can make deposits from wherever life takes you. All you need is your phone, your check, and a pen. (Those good UBT pens are perfect for this.)

Making a mobile deposit. On the back of the check you’re depositing, write “For Mobile Deposit Only at Union Bank” above the endorsement line, then sign as you normally would. Once you’re logged in to the UBTgo app, tap Deposit on the bottom of the screen and then Deposit Check to begin the process. Your device’s camera will prompt you to take a photo of the front of the check, and then another of the back of the check. Once these images are captured, you’ll select the appropriate account to receive the deposit, then enter the amount of your check. Once you’ve put in this information, you’ll want to select Deposit to submit your images and deposit to UBT. Funds are normally received within two business days. You can find successful deposits (after we receive them) under View Deposit History. Just as an FYI, there is a $5,000 mobile deposit limit per user, per day.

What to do with the deposited check. With your mobile deposit complete, you’ll want to make a couple of notes on your check before putting it away for safekeeping. Write Mobile Deposit and the full date you made your deposit on the front of the check, store it in a secure place for at least five days, then shred it after 14 days. You can obtain an image of the deposited check in your account activity in UBTgo; you can also search for a deposit specifically by amount.

To recap, mobile deposit is a convenient alternative and a great time saver. A quick download and a couple of prompts, and you’re ready to go. Snap a couple of pictures, select a couple of tabs, enter the info, and your deposit is complete. The only other equipment required is a pen for the first and last steps. Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? Of course, we’re always here to help. You can contact us at 833.323.1454 or chat with us online.
