Overdraft Privilege Opt-In

For our Overdraft Privilege customers:

If you wish to have overdraft coverage on your everyday debit and ATM card transactions, you must opt in.

Your Union Bank & Trust checking account may have a special feature called Overdraft Privilege. This service may provide a safety net in the event there are not enough funds in your account at the time of your purchase. Overdraft Privilege does not include everyday debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals unless you authorize us to do so.

  • Protection. Protect yourself from situations where your purchase or transaction is declined.
  • Control. Rather than having a sales clerk deny your purchase, you can remain in control of how you manage your account.
  • Flexibility. Even if you never intend to overdraw your account, Overdraft Privilege offers you flexibility in case of an emergency or error in managing your account.

See the Q & A section below for more details.

Overdraft Privilege Q & A: Helpful Answers to Your Questions

Are there any fees?

An NSF Paid Item fee of $34 each time will be imposed for covering overdrafts that result in a negative end of day balance*. If an account continues in an overdraft status for two consecutive days, a Continuous Overdraft fee of $4.00 is assessed daily.

*Fee Waived on Overdrafts under $7.50.
Occasional mistakes can cause your account to incur minor overdrafts, especially when using a debit card for smaller purchases. If you have a minor overdraft of less than $7.50 your account will not be charged an NSF Paid Item fee or NSF Returned Item fee.

Will you always pay my overdrafts?
This service represents a purely discretionary privilege or courtesy that we may provide to you from time to time and which may be withdrawn or withheld by us at any time. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts on accounts not in good standing; not receiving regular deposits; or with excessive overdrafts. In addition, overdrafts are to be repaid at least once every 30 days.

What if I opt in to the payment of ATM and everyday debit card transactions now, but change my mind later?
You may revoke the payment of ATM and everyday debit card transactions at any time by stopping by any Union Bank & Trust location; contacting us at 800-297-2837 or in Lincoln 402-323-1777; or by using the online opt out form.
