Overdraft Privilege Opt-In

For our Overdraft Privilege customers:

If you wish to have overdraft coverage on your everyday debit and ATM card transactions, you must opt in.

Your Union Bank & Trust checking account may have a special feature called Overdraft Privilege. Overdraft Privilege does not include everyday debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals unless you authorize us to do so.

Are there any fees?

An NSF Paid Item fee of $34 each time will be imposed for covering overdrafts that result in a negative end of day balance*. A $25 Continuous Overdraft Fee will be charged on every fifth consecutive business day the account is in overdraft status. The fee will not be imposed if you deposit sufficient funds to bring your account positive by the end of the fifth consecutive business day. Our business days are Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. For more information on how you can reduce overdrafts, go to

*Fee Waived on Overdrafts under $7.50.
Occasional mistakes can cause your account to incur minor overdrafts, especially when using a debit card for smaller purchases. If you have a minor overdraft of less than $7.50 your account will not be charged an NSF Paid Item fee or NSF Returned Item fee. Waiver does not apply to the $25 Continuous Overdraft Fee.

Will you always pay my overdrafts?
This is a discretionary service, which means we do not guarantee that we will authorize and pay a transaction presented for payment if the account does not contain sufficient funds.

What if I opt in to the payment of ATM and everyday debit card transactions now, but change my mind later?
You may revoke the payment of ATM and everyday debit card transactions at any time by stopping by any Union Bank & Trust location; contacting us at 800-297-2837 or in Lincoln 402-323-1777; or by using the online opt out form.
