There are several strategies to assist you in avoiding overdraft charges. A key component is awareness. Keeping an eye on your account will not only help you to avoid overdraft fees; it is helpful in noticing fraudulent activity that may have taken place on your account. Review the options below to see which will work best for you. If you need help with setting up these services, call or chat with our Customer Support Team or visit any of our branch locations.

Extra Peace of Mind
We have two options that can help you avoid overdraft fees when a mistake happens.
When an overdraft occurs, funds will be automatically transferred from another checking or savings account. Automatic transfers are made in increments of $100 up to the amount of funds available to transfer, for $3 per transfer. You may always initiate a transfer yourself, either through online banking or a teller, with no fee. Sign up in a branch or by calling Customer Support.
This line of credit can be used to protect you against overdrafts or as a source of funds for large purchases or emergencies. Funds automatically advance into your checking account, up to your approved credit limit. When you use the line of credit, repayment is easy. You'll automatically be charged 1/20th of the outstanding balance ($15 minimum), plus interest. Or pay the entire balance at any time. This line of credit has a $34 annual fee and 18.00% Annual Percentage Rate calculated from the date you access funds from the line of credit. There are no transaction fees. See the brochure for complete details.
For Automatic Account Transfers and Checking Plus, if sufficient funds are not available to transfer or advance, standard overdraft fees will apply.
Overdraft Your Account Today?
You have until the end of the business day to make a deposit to avoid incurring the fee. The cut-off times are dependent on which type of deposit you make. You can make a deposit in the branch prior to the closing (see our locations page for hours of your local branch), over the phone or using UBTgo. If your overdraft occurred on a weekend, make a deposit prior to the end of business on Monday.
Getting your account positive as soon as possible will help you to avoid additional NSF charges for automatic payments that may be coming out of your account. If your account is overdrawn for 5 consecutive days, you will be assessed a $25 Continuous Overdraft fee. If your account remains overdrawn, a $25 fee will be charged every 5th business day.
Alternative Account Options
UBT's GO Card is a reloadable debit card designed to help prevent overdrafts from occurring. There are no overdraft fees associated with this card.
Our Secured Credit Card is another option with no overdraft fees. When used responsibly, it can also help you build credit history.
