History of Union Bank & Trust

The current day Union Bank & Trust Company was founded in 1917 as the Farmer's State Bank. In 1935, the name was changed to Union Bank, and in 1959, with the addition of trust powers, the company became Union Bank & Trust Company.

In 1965, Union Bank & Trust was purchased by the Dunlaps, a longtime Nebraska banking family. Now, over 40 years later, still owned and managed by the same family, Union Bank & Trust has developed into a financially diverse organization serving Nebraskans across the state, as well as the Bonner Springs, Kansas City, and Johnson County Kansas areas.

Recognized for our innovation and progressive ideas, we've grown significantly during the past decade, both in size and diversity. Along with our affiliated companies, we offer the following services:

  • Comprehensive business treasury management, lending and depository services
  • A full line of retail deposit, transaction and lending services
  • Trust services for individuals, families and employer-sponsored benefit programs
  • Investment services, including our own family of mutual funds
  • Life, property and casualty insurance services

Important Information About Procedures For Opening A New Account—
To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you; we may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
