UBT’s Journey team hosted the fourth run of our popular Smarter in September series, a fun and informative how-to series designed to educate and enrich on a wide variety of topics. A record number of folks tuned in every Tuesday at 2 p.m. for our experts’ presentations and often some great Q&A about balance, Medicare re-enrollment, decluttering, and fraud prevention. We recorded the segments for YouTube history, so whether you missed one or all of the sessions the first time around, or are coming back for a second look, you’ll find that these segments are time well spent. So settle in, read the recaps, and prepare to push play — it’s time to get smarter!

Smarter Balance: Improving Strength and Stability

A refreshing look at increasing and sustaining balance as we age

This popular segment kicked off UBT Journey’s 2023 Smarter in September series. Sarah McCurley, Zoom fitness instructor and owner of MOVE with McCurley, led an impressive number of virtual attendees through stretching, strengthening, and meditation practices designed to stabilize and strengthen our balance function as a collective. (We learned that for optimal balance, our brain, muscles, and inner ear all have to work in sync!) She also shared an encouraging and philosophical take on stabilizing our physical bodies as well as our personal lives. Trust us, this is not your mama’s balance class!

Smarter Medicare Re-enrollment: Understanding Upcoming Changes

An industry expert looks at Medicare for 2024

Medicare’s annual enrollment period is right around the corner, so we invited Jonathan Burlison, Director of the Nebraska SHIP/SMP Division of the Nebraska Department of Insurance, to share his expertise in this segment. Medicare re-enrollment isn’t one-size-fits-all, nor is it static, as individual situations change. This presentation delivered valuable information that will make understanding changes and making any necessary decisions so much easier. Jonathan provided a comprehensive overview of Medicare parts and plans, providing answers — and more importantly, resources — to virtual attendees. Grab a pen and notebook and take a look.
