Tiffany Foote is the kind of person who makes life brighter for everyone around her. A second-grade teacher at Kahoa Elementary, she’s known for her gentleness, joy, and the way she treats every child as if they were her own. At home, Tiffany and her husband Jeremy have built a life centered on love and family with their two kids, Easton (14) and Alex (9). But this year has tested them in ways few can imagine.
Diagnosis: determination
Last spring, Tiffany was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of inflammatory breast cancer — the kind no woman expects to face. Since then, she’s endured months of chemotherapy, countless trips to New York for specialized care, a unilateral mastectomy, and six weeks of radiation in Texas. Through exhaustion and pain, Tiffany never stopped showing up: for her students, for her kids’ baseball and softball games, and for the everyday moments that make life feel normal. She never complained, never asked “why me,” and never stopped loving others first. Jeremy has been her rock, carrying the invisible weight of fear while keeping their family strong.
The Foote family loves making memories together, whether it’s exploring Disney World, having adventures closer to home, or cheering on local baseball teams. Alex plays softball and Easton plays baseball, so the family are huge fans! For Tiffany, those moments are more than fun, they’re reminders of what she’s fighting for every single day.
“She has spent this whole year fighting to live, and now it is time for her to get back to living.”
– Jess Hustad, nominator and friend
The emotional, physical, and financial toll has been immense. Yet Tiffany still finds ways to make every holiday magical — decorating their home, creating traditions, and making sure her kids feel celebrated. That selfless determination is why her friend Jess Hustad, who has known Tiffany since she was Jess’s kids’ preschool teacher, nominated the Foote family for Magic Moments.
Creating magic for the Footes
The Magic Moments team, along with our incredible partners, set out to give them a season filled with joy and togetherness — plus big adventures in the year ahead! We surprised them with a family getaway to Lake of the Ozarks, Saltdogs and Husker baseball suite experiences, and a night out featuring dinner at Leadbelly and the Harlem Globetrotters. Memberships, passes, and gift cards to everywhere from Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and the Lux Center for the Arts to Prehistoric Putt and Paint Yourself Silly guarantee outings galore. Gas cards and grocery bundles help ease everyday worries, while matching pajamas and Nebraska Adventure cards will keep the whole gang cozy and entertained at home.
Of course, there were gifts that spoke to each family member: Easton and Alex found treasures tied to their interests, from Lego sets to games and cozy sweatshirts. Jeremy discovered something special for his love of outdoor cooking. And Tiffany — who rarely thinks of herself — received some much-needed pampering, including a spa package from Luminescence Medspa, a Color Analysis from House of Colour, and a special necklace featuring her children’s birthstones.
After months of intense treatment and countless miles traveled, we just learned the family is celebrating the best possible news: Tiffany is officially cancer-free!
The heart of the season
This holiday season, we hope Tiffany and her family feel the same magic they’ve given to so many others. Here’s to a new year filled with hope, healing, and unforgettable memories. Happy holidays, Foote Family!
