A Connected Community Corner

One of the great things about any community are the small businesses that give them character. We all have our favorite go-to places — the ones where you know the employees and owners. When these businesses thrive, it’s uplifting to the entire area, bringing a sense of pride and togetherness. There’s a certain unique vibe these neighborhoods take on.

That’s the feeling you get when you visit College View in Lincoln, Nebraska, anchored by the quaint shops on the corner of 48th & Prescott. Three amazing business owners — and now, friends — started thriving businesses, side-by-side-by-side. For Jori at Pattino Boutique, Angela at Goldenrod Pastries and Grocery, and Meg at Paper Kite, it’s a great fit. They support each other through good times and bad, they serve as each other’s sounding boards when making decisions, and most of all, they add a vibrancy and connectedness to this lovely Lincoln neighborhood, along with many other local businesses.

Just up the street, UBT supports them with a variety of banking services, but it’s more than that. Business bankers, like Stacia and Steph, believed in these owners and their visions early on and offered support and solutions to help them grow. They’ve become friends with these owners over the years. Their kids go to school together; their families know each other. It’s a level of familiarity that leads to lasting relationships.

It’s the kind of thing that happens when your bankers live, eat, shop, play, and pray in the same places you do.
